BC Insulators welcome Sylvia Jordi as new Membership Coordinator

The BC Insulators Union is pleased to welcome Sylvia Jordi as our union’s new Membership Coordinator!

Safety and inclusion were foremost in mind as Sylvia transitioned into a hands-on trades environment joining Heat and Frost Local 118 as a Mechanical Insulator Apprentice. Before jumping into insulating, Sylvia was busy with a 12 + year business administration career until the right opportunity was presented through BC Women In Trades Training [BCWITT] to enter the construction industry directly into a union.

Her favourite thing about the trades is a work environment that is conducive to being her authentic and genuine self everyday.  Coming from a family of tradespeople, it’s easy to see how it became a special personal interest to volunteer time to develop social groups promoting diversity and inclusion in the trades.

Seeing the doors open for people entering the trades has been very rewarding and has propelled

Sylvia to continue this passion assisting members of Local 118 as Membership Coordinator.  In her younger years, while studying business management at Langara College, Sylvia was a Licensed Practical Nurse, then a Marketing Coordinator at Yaletown Business Improvement Association.

Sylvia is a hands-on coordinator who is truly able to develop creative programs and innovative solutions to expand the organizational footprint and create genuine connections with constituents to further our mission.

We look forward to our members meeting Sylvia in the days ahead.
