Several scholarships worth from $500 CDN to $5,000 USD are available to Local 118 members, their spouses and children, including stepchildren, who are enrolled at a recognized trade or technical school or an accredited university, college or other post-secondary institution.
There are 20 scholarships available each year. Two of the scholarships are named in honour of members who gave many years of service to Local 118: long-time former BC Insulators Contractors Association executive director Ed Russell, and Local 118 secretary Alyce Hodgkins. Both went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting our members.
The third Local 118 scholarship of $500 honours Steve Duzek, a long-term member of Local 118 who sadly passed away far too young. That scholarship is funded by Pacific Rim Industrial Insulation, where Steve worked.
The fourth Local 118 scholarship of $500 is on behalf of Anthony Ceraldi, a long-term member of Local 118, pension plan & apprenticeship program developer, previous Business Manager, and finally the International Vice President for Western Canada.
Eligibility for all four scholarships is limited to the children or stepchildren of Local 118 members who are enrolled in full-time studies and the awards are decided by random draw, not academic status.
