The BC Insulators hosted this year’s Western Canada Master Apprentice Competition on the campus at BCIT. Representatives from Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC competed in the 2 day event.

The apprentices, Benny Burden (BC), Colby Teel (Alta), and Brandon Mang (Sask) insulated and metalled a mock up piping station over the 2 days of the event. After the first day judges evaluated the insulation rough in and at the end of the second day the completed work. All 3 competitors did an exemplary job that would meet and exceed job site specification.

After careful consideration, Colby Teel the contestant from Alberta Local 110 was declared the winner. Colby now moves on to compete in the International MAC Competition taking place this year in Baltimore, Maryland.

Best of luck to Colby who’s work will represent Western Canada well at the next level.

Special thanks to the Judges, Instructors and to C&I Crossroads Insulation who generously donated the material for the competition.
