Brothers Loftus, Munro and McMillan attended the 2 day BC Fed Renewal Conference held in Victoria.
One of the highlights of the event was a speech given by Premier John Horgan, during which he promised that Government infrastructure projects would be covered by Project Labour Agreements that would support Red Seal tradespeople and contain apprenticeship requirements.
Premier Horgan went on to say that Government projects would be awarded to the “best bid” not “low bid” as is the current practice. This will allow our contractors to compete on a level playing field where their commitment to apprenticeships, training and safety will be acknowledged as part of the bid package. Priority will be given to local procurement and suppliers.
There were a number of workshops that were attended including OHS Legislation update, mental health in the workplace, Labour Education and stepping up your social media game.
