April 28 is Canada’s National Day of Mourning for workers killed on the jobs – or who have died from workplace diseases like mesothelioma – caused by exposure to asbestos.

There are dozens of events taking place all across British Columbia for April 28 2016 – the Day of Mourning BC website has a full listing with times and locations.  All BC Insulators Union members are urged to attend if possible.

One of the largest events is held in Vancouver and co-sponsored by the BC Federation of Labour, the BC Business Council and WorkSafeBC – it is taking place at 10:30 AM at the Vancouver Convention Centre – located downtown at 1055 Canada Place.

Surrey is also holding a memorial event at 7:30 AM at the City of Surrey Works Yard – 6651 148th St (in the courtyard).
