Sunday June 10th was the Walk for Truth for Asbestos Victims. It was a great day as over a hundred people walk through Powell River. Brothers Martin Skadsheim, Alex Sharpe & Lee Loftus were among them.
The Ford Family from Powell River BC lost their electrician father, Dave, to mesothelioma and found no support when trying to figured out what happened, why it happened and what could be done.
The Ford’s set out to make changes so other families wouldn’t experience the same as they did, no different than we as insulators did that for ourselves and the construction industry.
The AREA Fund was set to provide for Asbestos related Research, Education and Advocacy. Local 118 have provided support and funding for the cause and will continue to do so in the future.
