The BC Federation of Labour, New Westminster and Vancouver District Labour Councils will mark the 2014 national Day of Mourning on Monday April 28 at 11:45 a.m. with an event at the New Westminster Quay on the boardwalk.
The Day of Mourning is a call for action to end preventable workplace deaths and injuries. You can read about the history of why we have a Day of Mourning at the BC Federation of Labour’s informative website on the event’s background.
Each year more than 1,000 Canadians die from workplace accidents or from workplace-related illnesses like mesothelioma and cancer.
The event will feature the Metro Vancouver Firefighters’ Band and speakers.
